Explore composition and the creation of a personal visual vocabulary with internationally-known artist, Jonathan Talbot. Enjoy opportunities for new spontaneity as you learn his exciting collage technique that eliminates liquid adhesives from the collage-making process. Other subjects covered include the"paperless" transfer of printed and photocopied images, tissue overlays, permanency of materials, preparation of substrates, sources of tools and materials, presentation and framing of finished works, and more. The Morris Museum of Arts and Sciences, Marlboro College, The New Jersey Center for Visual Arts, Kansas State University, The Connecticut Graphic Arts Center, Sacred Heart University, The Mendocino Art Center, Esalen, and Mutual Benefit Life, Inc. are just a few of the many institutions which have hosted past Talbot Workshops and Demonstrations.

Saturday & Sunday, August 22 & 23, 2009 JUNCTION CITY, OR: EXPLORING COLLAGE & PHOTOMONTAGE / Explore Photomontage and its compositional possibilities and gain new insights into Collage as a whole. Review collage without liquid adhesives and various image transfer techniques and other subjects such as the Incorporation of Computer-generated images into Collage, Preserving Found Materials, Preparation of Substrates, Sources of Tools and Materials, Presentation and Framing of Finished Works, and more (additional goals of this workshops will be defined by the participants). This weekend workshop will be held at the farm of Jonathan's friend Marge Dillon near Junction City, OR where we can enjoy the animals and the mountain views. Junction City is just north of Eugene and less than two-hours south of Portland. Marge has a large barn (see photo at right) which has been converted to studio space so we will have plenty of room. Workshop Hours: 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM with optional evening hours on Saturday at no extra cost. A limited number of individual tutorial sessions are also available on Monday & Tuesday following the workshop (Aug. 24th and 25th). Thursday, August 27, 2009 EDMONDS, WA - ArtWorks: COLLAGE: MEDIUM & METAPHOR / During this FREE interactive lecture/demonstration Jonathan will demonstrate collage without liquid adhesives, "paperless" image transfer, and other innovative collage techniques. He will also involve the audience in a cooperative exploration of the implications of collage as a metaphor for both the mundane and the exceptional aspects of the human experience. 7:00 to 8:30 PM + optional Q and A 'til 9:00.   JONATHAN TALBOT: A BRIEF BIOGRAPHY:

The works of artist Jonathan Talbot have been exhibited at The National Academy and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, have represented the U.S. overseas in exhibitions sponsored by the State Department and the Smithsonian Institution, and are included in museum collections in U.S. and Europe. Talbot's works include oils, watercolors, etchings, collages, and multi-dimensional collage-constructions. Among the public collections holding Talbot works are The Newark Museum, The Smith College Museum, The Everhart Museum, The Byer Museum, The Montclair Museum, The Free Library of Philadelphia, The San Francisco Academy of Art, Fairleigh Dickinson University, The Provincetown Historical Society, and the Toronto Central Library. Talbot maintains his studio in Warwick, NY where he lives with his wife Marsha. They are the parents of two children: a daughter, Loren, and a son, Garret. For additional information Click Here
