Explore composition and the creation of a personal visual vocabulary with internationally-known artist, Jonathan Talbot. Enjoy opportunities for new spontaneity as you learn his exciting collage technique that eliminates liquid adhesives from the collage-making process. Other subjects covered include the"paperless" transfer of printed and photocopied images, tissue overlays, permanency of materials, preparation of substrates, sources of tools and materials, presentation and framing of finished works, and more. WARWICK, NY: COLLAGE TECHNIQUES & CREATIVE EXPLORATION 2011 / Come to Warwick, NY for this 3-day extended weekend workshop in the artist's studio. Enjoy new opportunities for spontaneity as you learn how to eliminate liquid adhesives from the collage-assembly process. Other subjects to be covered include "Getting Started," Accessing our Creative Energies, "Paperless" Transfer of Printed and Photocopied Images, Preserving Found Materials, Preparation of Substrates, Sources of Tools and Materials, Presentation and Framing of Finished Works, and more (some of this workshop's focus areas will be determined by the participants at the start of the workshop). Hours: 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM with optional studio time until 7:00 PM on both Saturday and Sunday at no extra cost. Workshop Fee: $350. Includes all materials, a free copy of "Collage: A New Approach," access to all tools in the studio, and continental breakfast, full lunch, and refreshments each day. artiscape imageApril 12th - 15th, 2012 COLUMBUS, OH - ARTISCAPE: At the invitation of Lisa Ohmer, director of the Artiscape artist's gathering, Jonathan will return to Artiscape this year. This event will be held in the Columbus suburb of Dublin, Ohio. Jonathan will present two 4-hour Collage Workshops ($77 each), one 4-hour Acrylic Image Transfer workshop ($89 fee includes free copy of Jonathan's new book on Acrylic Image Transfer), and one evening presentation: "Women Artists You Should Know" (included in Artiscape weekend pass). Sunday, May 7th thru 11th, 2012. SAN DIEGO, CA: DANCING WITH DESIGN; Exploring Composition with Collage: During this five-day workshop presented by The San Diego Watercolor Society we will explore collage without liquid adhesives and "free-up" our approach to composition by using collage to explore a variety of the aspects of design. Included will be intellectual, intuitive, interactive and kinesthetic approaches to line, shape, color (including hue, value, and intensity), texture, movement, rhythm, relativity, interest, and unity.
Also included will be information on "Getting Started," Accessing our Creative Energies, "Paperless" Transfer of Printed and Photocopied Images, Preserving Found Materials, Preparation of Substrates, Sources of Tools and Materials, Presentation and Framing of Finished Works (including works containg three-dimensional elements, and more (some of this workshop's specific goals will be determined by the participants at the beginning of the workshop). Space in this workshop, Jonathan's first in Southern California, is limted and the workshop is likely to fill so early registration is a good idea. During the first two days we will enjoy new opportunities for spontaneity by eliminating liquid adhesives from the collage-assembly process. Together we will determine additional goals for the workshop and other subjects may include, but are not limited to, "Getting Started," Accessing our Creative Energies, "Paperless" Transfer of Printed and Photocopied Images, Combining Collage and Painting, Design & Composition, Preserving Found Materials, Preparation of Substrates, Sources of Tools and Materials, Presentation and Framing of Finished Works (including works containg three-dimensional elements, and more. The optional third day will focus on advanced acrylic image transfer techniques and whatever other subjects the participants request. Hours: 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM with optional studio time until 7:00 PM on both Tuesday and Wednesday at no extra cost. Workshop Fee: Two Days: $275. Three Days: $350. Includes all tools and materials (nothing to buy), a free copy of "Collage: A New Approach," and both healthy and not-so-healthy refreshments. Participation in this workshop, Jonathan's first in the Bay Area since 2002, is limited to seven people. The workshop is likely to fill so early registration is a good idea.   JONATHAN TALBOT: A BRIEF BIOGRAPHY:

The works of artist Jonathan Talbot have been exhibited at The National Academy and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, have represented the U.S. overseas in exhibitions sponsored by the State Department and the Smithsonian Institution, and are included in museum collections in U.S. and Europe. Talbot's works include oils, watercolors, etchings, collages, and multi-dimensional collage-constructions. Among the public collections holding Talbot works are The Newark Museum, The Smith College Museum, The Everhart Museum, The Byer Museum, The Montclair Museum, The Free Library of Philadelphia, The San Francisco Academy of Art, Fairleigh Dickinson University, The Provincetown Historical Society, and the Toronto Central Library. Talbot maintains his studio in Warwick, NY where he lives with his wife Marsha. They are the parents of two children: a daughter, Loren, and a son, Garret. For additional information Click Here
